The world contains people of all types. Some good and some bad. Somewhere within each person there’s a good heart. The book Eragon written by Alfred A. knopf tells of a tale about a boy named Eragon. Along his journey Eragon use his good heart to save the lives of others.

 

A good heart means performing duties of justice. Within the book as Eragon and his riding companion Brom enter the city of Yazuac they stop at the Cities center, covered in blood were the bodies of slaughtered men, women, and children. At the center of the pile laid the body of an infant with a black arrow injected within its stomach. ON page 131 of the book it says, “A crow dipped out of the sky like a black shadow and perched onto the spear. It cocked its head and scrutinized the infant’s corpse. “Oh no you don’t,” snarled Eragon. As he pulled back the bow string and released it with a twang.” Without hesitation Eragon saved the corpse of the infant. Performing an unspoken duty of justice through the goodness of his heart. Another example is on page 132. Eragon is backed up in an ally. Faced to face with the People of Yazuacs murderers. All he thinks about is what they’ve and all the anger he has for the villagers. Within the story it says, “As he faced the Urgals, Images flashed in his mind: dead villagers piled around the spear and an innocent baby who never got to grow to adult hood.” All Eragon could think about was doing something that would avenge the lives of the fallen people. A good heart means protecting others even at the risk of your life.

A good heart means protecting other even at the risk of your life. When Eragon was imprisoned at the city of Gilead, he was at a stalemate. Only when he saw the lifeless body of an elf, covered in bruises. Within the story on page 293 it says, “Eragon’s blood burned as he looked at her. Something awoke in him-something she had never felt before. It was like an obsession, except stronger, almost a fevered madness. The women’s hair shifted, revealing pointed ears. A chill crept over him she was an elf.” Transfixed by his obsession, Eragon did whatever he could to save the elf. For example as Eragon and his new companion Murhtagh try to escape Gilead he stops and looks murtagh straight in the eye. “I’ve got to save her.” He says. Guided by the goodness of his heart Eragon heads toward the soldiers… toward the elf. A good heart means sometimes placing your life at risk.

Somewhere within each person there’s a good heart. Sometimes it takes a little push for us to show it. It could vary from the smallest of details to the biggest ones. It’s up to the people to make the call. Like right now. You could have a job interview but whether your late or not decides if you get it.
